UNSW Medicine offers a six year undergraduate entry medicine program leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Medical Studies/Doctor of Medicine. The Program is highly integrated both horizontally and vertically. All courses are interdisciplinary: biomedical sciences are integrated with one another and with the social and psychological sciences. The scientific basis of medicine and clinical experience go hand in hand throughout all years of the program. Learning is student-centred, intellectually challenging and diverse in order to respond to student needs. It promotes the value of experience, reflection and personal growth. The explicit aim is to graduate lifelong learners of medicine.
Our 4 year accredited Exercise Physiology program is the only one in Australia to be delivered within a medicine faculty; this allows our students to benefit from expert training in the medical sciences and clinical practice. The degree offers a comprehensive education in the area of health and exercise with a focus on the use of physical activity in the prevention and management of chronic disease and injury. UNSW Exercise Physiology graduates have rewarding careers in a number of clinical workplace environments including public and private hospitals, private practice, aged care facilities, mental health clinics, community exercise and physical activity programs, and workplace health and rehabilitation.
